President's Annual Report for 2025
The Pineridge Target Sports Club’s Annual Members Meeting is the perfect time to reflect on what transpired during 2025. The meeting is required to meet our corporate obligations, but it also sets the stage for a recap of our accomplishments, and start planning for the coming year.
Thanks to the contributions of our members, we continue to be in great shape. Through the efforts of a core group of volunteers, the property has never looked better, and all things that need attention are quickly fixed.
New regulations from the Chief Firearms Office require a Range Officer be in place when more than one shooter is on the range. This necessitated the need for us to recertify our Range Officers, and to train members who previously did not have Range Officer status. Thank you to all the 104 members who stepped up to take the RO training. Special thanks to Paul Young and Bill Nicholls for leading these sessions.
While on the topic of safety, the club invested in a second defibrillator –- one for the clubhouse and the other is in the schoolhouse. Note: They are designed for untrained users.
As much of camera security system is getting aged, upgrades were required to keep all the technology working in concert.
Although, last summer was hot and dry, vegetation on the property took a growth spurt. Flailing was done on the berms and the road entrance. Due to the growth around the hydro line on the property, an arborist who specializes in working around electricity was employed to remove any threatening growth. There was also the discovery of noxious weeds on parts of the property that were sprayed.
A big bonus came by way of OPG. Concerned about tics and mosquitoes, they paid to have the property sprayed. Good news: the offer has been repeated for spring and summer.
In 2024, we had the outside of the range spray painted. It looked so good, we had the schoolhouse, sheds and storage containers done this year. A coat of paint, and all the grooming on the ranges done by Mark Simmonds and Bob Owens has really spruced things up. Another bonus has been the work being done by Orwin Bandstra, a local property owner who has kept well on top of all the snow plowing needed this past winter, and now with the winter melt and daily rains, he is working on a drainage solution on the ranges.
Anyone who has not been out for a while, should plan on visiting. Not only it is a great place to be, as a club member, you have the advantage of feeding on the knowledge of our folks who have been around the sport for many years and are more than happy to share their know-how.
There are a couple of events coming up that provide a perfect opportunity for a visit. On May 24th, we are having the Annual Pancake Brunch, and a special Trap Shoot designed for people who would like to try hitting a few birds. Also, on June 21st, we will have a Father’s Day Barbecue. Bring the family and enjoy a day in the country. We look forward to seeing you.
